Are you constantly checking your temperature, clearing your throat, and googling the outcome of various COVID-19 cases?

You’re not alone! In a world-wide pandemic, even doctors are confused, and the information we receive is conflicting daily. As the medical community continues to study this virus, the panic continues to grow. You may be asking yourself these questions: What are the symptoms of COVID-19? How can I protect myself from COVID-19? How can I fight the Coronavirus? How can I keep my family safe from COVID-19? Are children getting Coronavirus? How can I get tested for COVID-19 antibodies?

Instead of agonizing over what we don’t know, our health coaching team has put together an immunity strategy based on the things we do know. The human body is a disease-fighting machine. In fact, our bodies are fighting viruses, diseases, and bacteria all the time! If we knew what happened daily in the microscopic world, we would self-quarantine and practice social distancing forever! We shouldn’t live in fear, because our bodies are designed to fight to keep us alive. However, we should take the important steps to build our immune system and give our bodies the tools it needs to fight off infections, diseases, and viruses. Here are some steps that you can take to give your body a fighting chance!

1. Hydration.

Water is by far the most important nutrient for the human body. In fact, you can’t survive more than 2 days without it! Every system in the human body requires water to function, and if you deprive yourself of the most essential building block, your body will always operate at half-mast. In order to keep your body and immune system functioning at its peak, you have to sufficiently hydrate each day! Your body fights disease at the cellular level, and cells are filled with water! When you have unhealthy, dehydrated cells, it is difficult for your body to process toxins. When you cells are full of water, your body can flush out toxins much more easily. You may ask, “how much water should I drink a day? The answer is simple. Most health professionals recommend 8-10 glasses of water per day, or about half a gallon. Each glass should be at least 8 ounces. This is called the 8×8 rule! 8 ounces, 8 times daily! If you have a larger frame, you can drink more. Drink up to keep your body strong!

2. Nutrition.

The American diet is full of processed food, sugar, and toxins. It is very difficult to eat healthy when there is a fast food option on every corner! However, it is still possible to get the immune boosting nutrients you need. Vitamin C is essential for immunity. Citrus fruits are a great source of vitamin C, such as oranges, kiwi, lemon, grapefruit, cantaloupe and strawberries! Leafy greens also contain Vitamin C, and a myriad of other healing nutrients. Some of the green superfoods include spinach, kale and broccoli. If you don’t like the taste, throw them in a smoothie and grind them up with some things you enjoy! You won’t know they are there! 3. Education.

Education is empowerment, but education about health is life. It is important to educate yourself about preventative healthcare, and how to manage the symptoms of Type II Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Obesity and Sleep Apnea. You can ask your doctor about your diagnosis, medications, side effects, and how they interact, but the best way to educate yourself on nutrition is to partner with a health coach!
