How To Lose Belly Fat, How To Feed Your Body, Without Feeding Your Belly

If you are reading this article, we’re willing to bet that you may have a pinch (or two) of belly fat.

You may have even tried weight watchers, Southbeach Diet, Jenny Craig, drops under the tongue, shakes – or all of the above. If you’re like most of our clients when they came to us, the only thing these fad diets got you were a few pounds off the scale and hundreds or thousands of dollars spent. We’re sorry that happened to you, but we have good news – your life is about to be changed (and it’s actually pretty easy)!

Let’s talk about how things have gotten “out of hand”.

The first step to getting rid of belly fat is realizing that it’s not your fault!

You are not overweight because you are a bad person or have no character, probably the opposite. You have likely spent your time investing in your family and career, or experiencing life and doing things you love. As a result, your health has been left by the wayside. So what is your motivation? Here’s an exercise. Close your eyes for 30 seconds and find your motivation. Ask yourself these questions:

  1. How would I feel if I lost this belly fat?
  2. How would I feel if I didn’t lose this belly fat?
  3. What sort of things can I not do because of this belly fat?
  4. What sort of things would I be able to do because of this belly fat?
  5. How will I look?

Okay, by now you should have found some motivation. Write it down!

1. DIET

Now, lets assume you know that caloric intake is a major factor in weight loss, which we’re sure you do. So lets skip over that and talk about which foods to get rid of RIGHT NOW in order to blast that belly fat!

Did you know that belly fat, also known as Visceral Fat (or Organ Fat), feeds on it’s own special foods? That’s right. Your belly fat has it’s own diet. If only we knew what they were…Oh wait, we do!

Sugars

You’re probably thinking, “I knew you were going to say that.” Well the bottom line is there is no way to lose belly fat without cutting out sugar. There are two types of sugars: Natural Sugar and Refined Sugar. It is a good idea to reduce overall sugar intake, but natural sugars aren’t bad for you in moderation. However, Refined Sugar is your belly fats favorite and most beloved food (it’s actually not even food). The Health Dare coaching team has thousands of years worth of combined nutrition knowledge, so it’s not that difficult for us to identify foods which contain refined sugars. But until we coach you how to easily identify sugars foods, here’s a cheat sheet:

  • Sweetened Beverages: Sweet tea, Soda, Sports Drinks
  • Pastries: Doughnuts, cookies, cakes
  • Candy: Just about all of them
  • Dressings: Ranch Dressing, Ketchup, BBQ Sauce
  • Dairy: Sweetened Yogurts, Ice Cream, Creamers

Identifying and eliminating refined sugars in your diet is really not that difficult; it just takes a little coaching and a little know how. But if you want to get rid of belly fat, get rid of the refined sugar.

Carbohydrates

Like sugars, there are many types of carbohydrates to be consumed by the body. Simple and Complex carbohydrates are the two most common – but your belly fat is only concerned with one – WHITE FLOUR! White flour is interpreted in the body as sugar and your belly fat loves it! So you in order to eliminate belly fat, stick to the whole grains and avoid white flower grains at all costs!

2. HYDRATION

Now, this one may have thrown you for a loop. We have people ask us all the time, “How in the world does drinking water help me lose belly fat?” Well the straight answer is it can’t, sort of…it doesn’t matter how much water you drink, it matters how much you absorb. Drinking lots of water daily combined with eliminating white flower and sugar will help your body absorb the water you are drinking – Oh, and leafy greens help as well!

3. EXERCISE

Exercise is another very important aspect to losing the stubborn belly fat. Contrary to popular belief, there is no exercise that can target belly fat. The most effective way to lose belly thru exercise is by doing exercise which contributes to overall fat loss and promotes muscle gain. Long, slow cardio is probably your best bet to promote a generous fat burn. At The Health Dare, we have many exercises that are fun, easy and you can do them almost anywhere.
